The Week of July 20th: Prevalence Data

Monday: For this week, we were assigned to analyze IHME total prevalence data for HCV and HBV. I tackled HCV data. The data was organize by country for years 1990, 2015, and 2019 to estimate trends for each year and percent declines over certain timelines.

Area I: 1.2: 1.2.5; 1.2.6. 1.3: 1.3.1; 1.3.6

Tuesday: I continued work on the HCV prevalence data for the indicators we were given. I also sat in on an interview of one of the elimination champion winners.

Area VII: 7.4: 7.4.8

Area I: 1.2: 1.2.5; 1.2.6. 1.3: 1.3.1; 1.3.6

Wednesday: I continued work on the IHME HCV prevalence data to find the top numbers and the highest percent declines in prevalence from 1990-2015, 2015-2019, and 1990-2019.

Area I: 1.2: 1.2.5; 1.2.6.

Thursday: The data was organized by country for years 1990, 2015, and 2019 to estimate trends for each year and percent declines over certain timelines. We were advised to create similar analysis of this data as with the previous data. I created my slides to share with the team. We had a check-in to go over data results.

Area I: 1.2: 1.2.5; 1.2.6.

Friday: After reviewing the data on Thursday, I took comments and questions from Dr. Ward and Lindsey into consideration to continue analyzing this data for a slide presentation to send before I finish my hours. Rochelle tackled the HBV data, which had different trends than the HCV data.

Area I: 1.2: 1.2.5; 1.2.6.

Area VII: 7.4: 7.4.8

The Final Week: The Week of July 27th

Monday: I continued work on HCV prevalence data after team check-in last Thursday to review/edit slides. There were several questions asked during the check-in to explore and incorporate in analysis. I have really enjoyed all my data work during this practicum. I have learned a lot in terms of exploring data, sorting it, and estimating indicators.

Area I: 1.2: 1.2.5; 1.2.6 1.3: 1.3.1

Tuesday: I had my practicum review with Lindsey and Dr. Ward from the CGHE to go over my experience with the task force. They asked good questions regarding my experience and how they should proceed in the future with other interns. We discussed the limitations of remote work, and what I thought about how often we checked in on ongoing work. After that, I continued look at HCV prevalence data and did my own outside research to see how numbers compare to existing data on HCV burden.

Area I: 1.2: 1.2.5; 1.2.6 1.3: 1.3.1

Area VII: 7.6: 7.6.1; 7.6.6

Wednesday: I spent a few final hours finishing up my HCV prevalence data/slides to send in before completing/sending in my hours. I am now clocked in at a little over 300 hours.
